As you all know I am the oldest of 5 children. Right after me

I had three brothers and loved each of them. Although they were pesky at times and loved to treat me like one of them!! I didn't know what dressing up was really except when my mom made me dresses which was every year at Easter time.
I loved getting new dresses!! It was a time I felt pretty!
All the other times I was pretty much like the rest of the boys. Outside playing in the dirt, riding my bike or feeding our lambs dad had bought us, to teach us responsibility.

Dad one time even had me stand in front of a herd of bulls and cows to herd them in the pen because they were out. I of course being around the age 5 or 6 was scared out of my mind and ran when they all came toward me. I don't think my parents knew what to do with a girl either.
I had a friend I grew up with from first grade on and we were best friends from then until junior high but remained great friends through all of our school years, even cheered together in High School. After graduating we went to Beauty School at the same place and that was fun! I liked going to her house when I was younger because it was just the opposite. She had three sisters and there was all kinds of girl things to do!! It was always so much fun!
When I was 12 I found out my mom was having another and her final baby. I prayed so hard and wished so hard that it would be a girl!! I remember at nights looking out my window at the stars and wishing
upon a star that it would be a girl. I wanted a sister I could do things with, shop with and exchange clothes with. Well she came and boy was I happy!!

I couldn't wait to be her big sister and teach her all kinds of things! I wanted to teach her how too dress up and wear make up and do her hair and go shopping!

Well it was fun for about three years and then I started dating and she became the tag along. You know the one you always have to watch out for. There was many years of her being too young to do much with other than watch her and really she was so good she didn't need much watching!!

As she grew up I soon learned she wasn't much for
girly things like shopping and make up she didn't really like to wear and still doesn't but on a rare occasion. She didn't really like her hair to be done and was more the t shirt and jeans kind of a gal. She was too young to trade clothes with and she liked all the bright yellows, pinks, oranges, and greens. I was more of a girl who liked warm fall colors, with some blue and pink. So we were so different to say the least.
I remember when I had my mission call and came home for a month before I left she slept in my room on a trundle. We would read scriptures at night and I was always amazed at her testimony and knowledge of the gospel. I wished I could spend more time with her then.

She was 8 or 9 at the time. I would get these cute little letters from her while I was gone or pictures she had drawn. She was so much fun!! She smiled a lot and was a sweet little girl! I came home and she had grown a ton but was still very young. Heading into young
women's. I got married 8 months later and didn't see her very much then either. Time seemed to fly, we would try to make it to her gymnastics or her
cheer leading things as much as we could.

I remember her graduation day, I had Tucker then and we lived in another state and didn't see much of her except for when we would get together as a family. We have always been going different directions.
Two years ago she was in a car accident with my mom and they were traveling to visit her boyfriend to meet his family in Washington over Christmas. She broke her neck and couldn't move anything from her neck down for awhile.

She came here to Utah and had rehab here at the University Hospital.

She learned how to use her arms again, how to wheel herself around in her wheelchair, how to roll over, sit up, and eventually how to walk again! She is now walking with a cane.

That was fun for us to have her so close that we could visit her nearly every day. After rehab at the U they moved in with us for 7 months and she did some more rehab here at
neuroworx. It was fun to have them here and the kids really missed them for the first little while after they went back to Idaho!!
She was amazing she worked so hard and exceeded all expectations for her! It has been fun to watch her
progression! All through this trial she smiled and cried but never complained about her situation!! I never once heard her say this is not fair or this stinks. NOT once did I hear those or any other sort of complaining! Now, I on the other hand, you would have heard those and many others!! She has been an example of faith and strength to me and my children and I am so grateful for that!!
It has now been two years and she is walking with a cane and is doing almost everything she did. She will not ever be the same again, but is very lucky and blessed for being able to do what she can!! She had friends going through rehab that never did regain things and are in wheelchairs or have to be fed.
If you ever feel sorry for yourself or are having a bad day. Take yourself up to the U and go visit some of those who once had everything and are now struggling to feed themselves or move at all!! That was life changing for me!! I learned to appreciate the small things in life even more than we do with Tucker!! Some of those people are so amazing!! It is unreal to see them carry such a burden and climb their mountain!! It is so inspiring and helped me to see the Savior more fully in our lives!! He really is there to
strengthen us and to even carry us at times!!
Even though Colleen and I have been growing up from different times and our lives are not meshing like I had hoped for. She still is a great sister and I love her very much and want her to be happy! I have been blessed by her example and her strength through the death of our father at 14. She was stalwart through that also. We all worried about her and wondered if she was going to
close up, she has been very quiet and does keep to herself, like my mom. They are much a like. She has been through a lot at her age and I am proud of her strength through it all! I know that the Lord has some amazing things in store for her and that she will and has helped so many through her example!
Well the main reason for writing this is because she is getting married on May 20
th. She has asked me to be her maid of honor. I am not sure what my responsibilities are and was wondering if any of you had some instructions on what I should be doing. She is so on the ball and has everything pretty much done. She is ready to go. I want this to be a special day for her and want her to remember it forever. She has asked me to take pictures also. I really want to do my best for her and give her what she deserves and needs!! I am so happy for her and Ben to start this new adventure!!

I think I am suppose to be doing the bridal shower and so I really need some fun ideas if any of you have some I could sure use them!!! It has been a really long time since I have done anything like this!! So please people lay it on me!!
