Building a new home for Tucker~~~ HELP!

Ok Everyone!! I need your help! I have been researching, trying to find a program that helps with the cost of putting elevators in your home. There is all kinds of programs to help if you have a church you need one in, or if you have become a quadriplegic and need one put in your home, but to already have an existing condition there has been nothing so far. I have been so frustrated wondering how this is!! This is the story of these poor children's lives. I don't understand!! It is the same way medically when you receive any service there just really isn't much help. I have been so very proud of Mike always working so hard to provide for our little guy who is now almost 12!! He works two jobs so we have two insurance and he just started that three years ago. Before the medical bills were piling up and it was hard to keep ahead well really, we never really have been. But he still has done an amazing job!!

I will never forget in the beginning, the first 4 or so years of Tucker's life. Mike was going to school and we were on medicaid and SSI. WOW, I was never so glad to get off those things!! I know they are beneficial in many ways but at the same time they took up soooo much of our time and there was so much red tape to go through it was unbelievable to just receive some help!!!!! It was so very stressful for both of us!! So frustrating for sure!! We were so tired of battling for everything and getting very little help!! It is amazing to me how much we have paid over the years for his medical care and try so hard to keep up on top of i,t but fall short all the time!! Mike works in the ER at Pioneer and there are soooo many people who have no insurance and get great care and never pay a dime!! Yet you pay your bill 80% and are making payments for the other 20% and they nail you every time and can't take anything off. Mike has even offered to pay the majority in full if they would deduct some and NOPE still want full. Yet it is this nonprofit organization. Oh man this wasn't suppose to be about medical care!!! :) I could honestly go off forever about our issues, I try to smile and ignore, but that is not what this is about. :)

I am just exhausted in trying to provide all that Tucker needs, working your butt off, only to come up short every time!! We are trying to build a new home for Tucker and we have had the Hardest time finding someone who wants to build with us because they are afraid to build something like that and be stuck with this home that they then can't sell. Also it can't be a regular home, it needs larger hallways, bigger doorways and doors, a way to get up and down the stairs, ramps, and the kitchen modified so he is more independent. Along with the bathroom needing to be larger with a roll in shower. I want so badly to provide these things so he can gain more confidence and not depend on us so much all the time!! Well to put an elevator in costs 20-30 thousand. That is a lot and you try to decide do you need it that bad. But when it comes to your freedom, yes you do!! He has always crawled up the stairs and well he is no longer doing that. I knew there would come a day when he didn't want to do that, I just thought it would be closer to 14. We even have his basketball hoops downstairs in hopes he would want to go down, but he would rather not.

I guess I am writing this post in hopes that someone may know of program somewhere, where you can get some help or something or even some ideas. We are so up for anything right now!! We want Tucker to be free as everyone else feels in their own home!! I wish at times it was as simple as going around all the homes that are available and picking one you like. That would be so refreshing!! Instead I am thinking, can I modify this and how much extra will it cost, is it going to give him what he needs or be a road block for him. I keep thinking the Lord gave us this child and we can not provide the very things he needs. I often wonder what I need to learn that I am not already learning!! Life is full of trials and challenges and usually I try to embrace them the best that I can, but when it comes to your child it is so hard!! I often think I would give anything to trade him and have it be me in his shoes!! I would love to make his pain go away!! Even with the knowledge of, trials make you stronger, and give you valuable lessons!!

So in writing this post, if any of you know of a program that helps, or have any ideas what has helped you or whatever please let me know!! We would love any advice anyone has!! Thanks in advance for all your help and support!!
